Ravichandran Ashwin got to his fifth Test ton as India scored 286 in the second innings setting England a target of 482 to win. Mohammed Siraj was batting with him at the other end, when Ashwin got to his landmark on his home ground. Ashwin and Siraj added a 49-run stand which helped India get past 250-run mark in the second innings and stretch their lead well past 450.

Earlier in the game, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up five for 43 with the ball to limit England to 134 in their first innings. In the process, Ashwin went past a few records. He got to 200 left-handed dismissals and Harbhajan’s tally of 266 wickets at home.

With his 266th scalp in the form of Ben Stokes on Sunday, Ashwin surpassed Harbhajan’s tally of 265 Test wickets in India. Ashwin is now only behind the legendary Anil Kumble, who has 350 Test wickets to his name in India.

Ravichandran Ashwin also apologised to Harbhajan Singh for breaking his record and said “Sorry Bhajju pa” while recalling the veteran off-spinner’s exploits in the 2001 series against Australia
