Watch: Mohammed Siraj’s Reaction After Ravichandran Ashwin Gets To His Fifth Test Ton

This was Ashwin's fifth Test ton, his first since 2016.

Ravichandran Ashwin got to his fifth Test ton as India scored 286 in the second innings setting England a target of 482 to win. Mohammed Siraj was batting with him at the other end, when Ashwin got to his landmark on his home ground. Ashwin and Siraj added a 49-run stand which helped India get past 250-run mark in the second innings and stretch their lead well past 450.

Meanwhile, the reaction of Mohammed Siraj after Ravichandran Ashwin got to his century was a moment to savour. The BCCI was quick enough to tweet a video of Siraj’s reaction as well. Ashwin too was full of smiles as he got a three-figure score after four years in Test cricket.

India lost five wickets in the first session of day 3 after starting their day on 54/1. While all the other batsmen struggled Ashwin along with Indian skipper Virat Kohli (62) found some resistance with the bat. They added a 96-run stand for the seventh wicket to help India get back into the Test match.

Meanwhile, the England spinners were at work again. Jack Leach and Moeen Ali took four wickets each in the second innings as they made the ball talk. Amid the failure of all other Indian batsmen, how Kohli and Ashwin batted was a treat to watch.

Ashwin still needed 20-odd runs when Mohammed Siraj walked out to bat with him. The senior partner in Ashwin urged the pacer not to give his wicket away like he did in the first innings leaving Rishabh Pant stranded on 58.

Ashwin hit some big shorts as he got to got close to his three-figure mark. Once Ashwin achieved his feat, Mohammed Siraj smacked two sixes as he scored 16 off 21 balls before Olly Stone dismissed Ashwin for 106.
