India’s all-rounder Washington Sundar has returned home from England after getting ruled out from five-match Test series against England. The much-awaited bilateral series starts on August 4 (Wednesday) in Nottingham.

Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan played for the County Select XI in the warm-up match against India after ECB requested the Indian management for players. The right-arm offspinner complained about an injury on his indexed finger during the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Thereafter, he aggravated the injury while playing in the warm-up match last week.

Sundar is the third Indian player to have been ruled out due to injury from India’s tour of England. Avesh fractured a finger of his bowling arm and was ruled out while Gill was ruled out due to a shin injury.

On Saturday, July 31, Washington Sundar penned down an emotional note on his Twitter account. He wrote:

“Hard to be missing out and going back. A big thank you for all your good wishes for my recovery!”

Former Indian pacer Munaf Patel commented on Washington Sundar’s tweet wishing the latter a speedy recovery. He wrote, “Get well soon mate. take care of yourself”.

Washington Sundar likely to miss the second half of IPL 2021

Washington is also likely to miss the second half of the Indian Premier League 2021 in the UAE As per reports, he has been advised a six-week rest by BCCIā€™s medical team. Sundar will report to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and would undergo rehabilitation.

Opening Batsman Prithvi Shaw and Middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav have been added to the Indian squad as replacements. The duo was in Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series and will fly to England soon. They will have to produce three covid-19 negative reports before boarding the flight.
