Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed recently called Arshdeep Singh a ‘basic bowler’, saying that teams won’t be worried about him. Arshdeep was recently named in India’s 15-member T20 World Cup squad, scheduled to take place in Australia, starting next month.

Arshdeep, who earned praise for his ability to hit the Yorkers at will during IPL 2022, was handed the debut cap earlier this year. He impressed one and all with his death bowling prowess and even made his place in the T20 World Cup team.

So far, he has played 11 T20I matches, claiming 14 wickets at an economy of 7.38. His best figures in the format are 3 for 12. Despite his early success, Aaqib Javed is not impressed by the youngster.

“He’s a basic bowler. In T20s, you either need a bowler like Bhuvneshwar Kumar who can swing the ball, or you should have pace. Or, you should be tall enough and have good yorkers. You need to have a trademark,” Javed told Paktv.tv.

“Bowlers like Arshdeep are ‘just bowlers’. They don’t have a trademark and the opposition doesn’t even think about such bowlers,” added Javed.

Arshdeep who brings a lot of variety to India’s pace attack will hope to have a good outing in the T20 World Cup as India chase their maiden ICC trophy since 2013.

“Paaji mere sabse acche dost hai” – Ravi Bishnoi backs Arshdeep Singh on dropped catch incident

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi backed Arshdeep Singh, saying that the fast bowler is one of the bravest people he has seen in his life. Earlier this month, the left-armer Arshdeep came under a lot of fire after he dropped a simple catch at short third-man during the Asia Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan.

Arshdeep was greeted with a lot of flak and the situation worsened to the extent that his Wikipedia page was changed to ‘Khalistani’. However, Bishnoi, who was the bowler, came out in Arshdeep Singh’s defence.

“Paaji mere sabse acche dost hai (Paaji is a dear friend). We all know that dropped catches are part and parcel of game. It can happen with the best. It could well have been the other way round where he was bowling and I happened to drop the catch,” Bishnoi was quoted as saying.
