“He Is More Of A Mahi Bhai Type Of Person” – Suresh Raina Praises Ruturaj Gaikwad

Veteran batsman Suresh Raina believes Ruturaj Gaikwad has some traits of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and is ready to compete in international cricket. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener had a superlative IPL 2021 and played a pivotal role in helping CSK win their fourth IPL title.

Raina, who saw Ruturaj from close quarters in CSK camp, reckoned that the 24-year-old has worked extremely hard to come up the ranks. The southpaw also stated that it is now important for him to capitalize on this momentum and make a mark for himself in world cricket.

Speaking to Sports Tak, Suresh Raina said:

“I feel that he’s ready to play for the country. The way he has performed under pressure is commendable, even in the playoffs. He’s more of a Mahi bhai type of a person. He’s very calm and composed and works really hard.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad finished as the leading run-scorer of the season by scoring 635 runs from 16 games including a century.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis’ superlative run in the tournament played a massive role as CSK defeated Kolkata Knight Riders to win the prestigious title. Suresh Raina lauded both of them for their brilliant run of form.

“The way Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis batted, I think they created momentum right from the start. They have been playing well right from the first game. Faf has played in T20 leagues everywhere and his vast experience matters a lot,” Suresh Raina added.

While Ruturaj Gaikwad finished with 635 runs, Faf du Plessis amassed two short of Gaikwad – 633 runs including a match-winning knock of 86 runs in the final.
