The BCCI announced the return of the Yo-Yo Test and Dexa Test for the selection of the Indian Team in a board meeting on Sunday.

Yo-Yo Test was a part of the Indian team as Virat Kohli focussed on fitness in lead up to the 50-over World Cup in 2019. This time around, the BCCI will look to monitor the workload of key players including the home series against Sri Lanka and Australia, followed by the Indian Premier League 2023.

Keeping in mind the 2023 World Cup to be played in India, BCCI announced Dexa Test. The Indian team has been struggling for fitness as they were knocked into the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia.

Know all about Dexa Test

Dexa Test or DXA is called Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry. It is usually done to test bone density using low dose X Rays to see how dense and how strong the bones are. According to UK NHS, Bone density scan is a type of X-Ray called dual-energy X-Ray absorptiometry that is passed through the body that is shortened to DEXA.

The DEXA Test uses X Rays to give highly accurate measurements of the total weight of fat, lean tissue, and bone minerals. It helps understand where the fat and weather training is yielding results according to a former Indian strengthening and conditioning coach.

DEXA is a part of testing protocols. Some teams have done this type of method 10 years ago. DEXA method will be uniform, and the data can be used in the future as well. Indian team has been struggling off late with injuries as Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja did not take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia.

It is a method of establishing fat percentage for a while now. The scans include well-known imaging techniques such as MRI or CT scan but lesser know are called dual-energy X-Ray absorptiometry scans.
