Here is BCCI”s decision on the Day-Night Test match

In a massive development doing the rounds from last few days in Indian cricket, sources reveal that India is all set to boycott the idea of Day-Night test matches.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has turned its back on from day-night Test matches concept. BCCI reportedly has also rejected Cricket Australia”s proposal facing off in a pink-ball Test match later this year in Adelaide.

The reasoning behind this bold and strange move is that BCCI doesn”t see any future for the idea of pink ball test matches.

India has also decided to do away with the idea of hosting a day-night Test against the West Indies in October this year. TOI quoted a source as saying, “The BCCI doesn’t see any point in pursuing with the idea of a day-night Test at all.”

BCCI claims that the ICC has not included any Day-Night Test fixtures in the upcoming Test Championship post the 2019 World Cup, therefore Indian Cricket Board also can”t support something which ICC has no regards for in future.

This statement from the board came out of the blue as earlier there were talks of India hosting Windies later this year for a pink ball test.

Last month, the BCCI had said that the Day-Night Test will only be decided upon after the approval of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). BCCI secretary Amitabh Chaudhary had vouched for the pink-ball Test.

He even claimed that the CoA had agreed to host one D/N Test against West Indies. The BCCI now states that it does not see any reason to host a Day-Night Test against West Indies anymore.

The board also went to state that India will not play any pink-ball Test during the upcoming tour of Australia. While all the details are not final and there could still be some changes or more U-turns but it seems unlikely that Virat Kohli”s men will participate in a pink ballet any time soon.
