Here Is How BCCI Strengthened The Bio-Bubble Protocols Amidst The COVID Wave

The alarming spike in the number of coronavirus cases in India over the past few months has daunted the players taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made bio-bubbles for the players, some players have quit the tournament mid-way and flew back home.

The bio-bubble has cut off the contact between the players inside the bubble and the outside world. Even the contact between the players has been curtailed to keep things safe. Keeping in mind the further rush in the number of cases, BCCI has amended a few changes to curb the spread of the virus in the bubble and halt the IPL 2021.

The players were restricted from going outside and eat at restaurants as a part of the bio-bubble protocol. The Board has revised the guidelines again; the players can not order food from outside. Earlier, the players could order food from eateries outside.

“Earlier in the tournament, we had permitted food deliveries from outside your designated hotels, but these privileges have also been withdrawn. Apart from this, we have also increased our level of caution to strengthen our bio-bubbles,” said BCCI COO Hemang Amin.

After the revised protocols, Chennai Super Kings batter Robin Uthappa was seen stretching his hands in the hotel’s kitchen. Donning the chef’s apron, Uthappa cooked something for himself and his teammates.

According to the initial protocols, the players were supposed to test once every five days. As the risk is increasing every day, BCCI made it compulsory for the players to undergo RT-PCR tests once every two days throughout the ongoing IPL 2021.

Now, vaccination has become the biggest weapon to stop the spread of the virus. The government has allowed everyone above the age of 18 to get vaccinated. The drive will start on May 1. The cricketers are also free to attain the offer. But the final call will be up on the players.
