Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has heaped praise on Virat Kohli for his efforts to promote sports among youth in India. In September Virat Kohli along with Rising Pune Supergiants owner Sanjeev Goenka joined hands to introduce Indian Sports Honours in a bid to recognize achievements of Indian sportspersons in various sports and award them.

“I think what Virat is doing and his entire effort to support to young sportsmen across the country is a wonderful idea,” Aamir told IANS on sidelines of Indian Sports Honour Awards organized by the Virat Kohli Foundation on Saturday.

Siddharth Malhotra who was also present quoted, “Today, it`s a great thing that we are honoring all sports personalities for their contribution to the country. I have just come here to support them. While growing up, I used to play rugby, football and basketball so, I think a lot has to be done when it comes to sports. Today`s event makes it more important because they are supporting other sports apart from cricket. It`s a great initiative,” he added.

Tennis superstar Sania Mirza also lauded Kohli saying, “Virat is doing an amazing job. We all know, the amazing batsman he is and the amazing captain we have. But it`s really nice, as an athlete what he is trying to bring in sports and trying to give exposure to every other sport in our country.”

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has launched his own sports brand One8 in collaboration with German lifestyle and sports brand Puma. Kohli is the brand ambassador of Puma. Last week he announced a contest on behalf of One8 on Instagram. He urged everyone to post videos playing various sports using hashtag #One8Crew.

Kohli who has been playing non-stop cricket off late is expected to get some rest in limited overs series against Sri Lanka to keep himself fresh for South Africa tour. 2017 has been a very successful year for Kohli with the bat. This year he has scored 1406 runs in ODIs at an average of 76 with 6 hundreds.
