Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell posted an emotional message while revealing that he will not register for the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction, scheduled to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.

The 37-year-old featured for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2025 season, but had a forgettable run, scoring only 48 runs and picking up four wickets in six innings before a broken finger brought his campaign to an early end.

The franchise later released the Australian star during the retention announcement last month. With the auction fast approaching, Maxwell took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 2, to inform fans that he will be skipping the 2026 edition of the tournament. In his post, he wrote:

“After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me. The IPL has helped shape me as a cricketer and as a person.”

“I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever. Thank you for all your support over the years, hopefully see you soon. Cheers Maxi,” he added.
