Hyderabad Steps Up Security & Transport For IPL 2025

The Hyderabad Police has placed large security measures for the IPL 2025 matches set to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium from March 23. Last year’s runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will kick off their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday afternoon.

The stadium, located in Uppal with a seating capacity of 39,000, will host nine matches this season, including the first qualifier and the eliminator. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Sudheer Babu, confirmed that approximately 3,000 police personnel have been deployed for security duties.

To enhance safety, ‘She Teams’ will be on duty to ensure women’s security, while authorities have also requested extended metro services to facilitate convenient public transport for fans returning home late at night.

“We have nine matches that will take place here…the stadium has a capacity of 39,000. Around 3000 Police officials have been deployed for duty…we also have ‘she teams’ for the women’s safety…we have requested the metro to run the trains late so the audience can use public transport to return after the match…” Sudheer Babu told news agency ANI.

Pat Cummins to lead SRH again after Impressive IPL 2024 campaign

Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad had an impressive IPL campaign last season, reaching the final for the first time since 2018. However, they fell short in the title clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai. The franchise has shown confidence in Cummins, retaining him as captain for the upcoming season.

Ahead of last year’s mega auction, SRH retained four key players—Cummins, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. They further strengthened their formidable batting lineup by acquiring Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis.

In the pace department, the team has bolstered its attack with the additions of Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Jaydev Unadkat, while Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar will lead the spin attack.

SRH will kick off their campaign with two home games before traveling to Visakhapatnam to face Delhi Capitals, followed by a high-stakes clash against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
