I Decided To Play More Of Grounded Shots This Season – Prithvi Shaw

The match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals started with the ‘Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan show’ as they both got off to a brilliant start in the powerplay. This started when Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first in Dubai.

Delhi went into this match after having won a super over thriller against the Kings XI Punjab side. On the other hand, CSK were coming into this match after losing the affair against Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah couple of days ago.

Delhi started on a high as both their openers were involved in a 94 run opening partnership. Following which there were glimpses of sublime batting by Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant as they managed to take Delhi to a competitive score of 175.

In reply, CSK’s openers flopped yet again today as both Shane Watson and Murali Vijay got out in the powerplay. CSK’s star batsmen Faf Du Plessis was again among the runs as he scored a fighting 43 to surpass KL Rahul as the leading run-scorer in this year’s IPL.

In the end, the CSK batsmen were again unable to match up the required run rate in the middle overs which ended up causing them the match yet again. Prithvi Shaw, Delhi’s star batsmen were the man of the match for today’s game after scoring a fire powering 64 off 43 balls to take Delhi off to a flying start.

Playing Along The Ground Is More Important: Prithvi Shaw

At the post-match presentation, Prithvi said that it was important that he plays along the ground instead of going with the aerial route. He knew that last year he was striking the ball well and wanted to do the same this year by avoiding those silly mistakes he committed last year.

“In the start you have to see how the wicket is, playing along the ground is more important. I was striking the ball well last year as well, but I was making silly mistakes. This time I decided to play more ground shots. I would like to see the highlights of my knock and understand how it went and what I could do. The wicket was nice to bat on.”

Up next tomorrow is the battle between Kolkata Knight Riders led by Dinesh Karthik and Sunrisers Hyderabad led by David Warner at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
