Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal received his maiden India Test call-up for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the Indian Test and ODI squads for the tour, which begins on July 12 in Dominica. This will be Team India’s first assignment in the new 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle.

Following India’s loss in the recently concluded World Test Championship final against Australia, there were speculations about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s likely inclusion in the Test squad for the West Indies tour. The youngster was informed officially about his selection on Thursday, June 22, a day before the squad was announced. Speaking to Sportstar, Yashavi Jaiswal shared his excitement on receiving his maiden India Test call-up. He said,

“I have been trying to tell myself not to get excited since it’s just the beginning but it is obviously a big deal. I have been working for this very moment all my life. And I know it’s just the beginning. I am looking forward to it.”

“Not thinking too much about external factors. Making optimum use of every practice session and being determined on the results. It may sound like a cliche. But honestly, all I have been trying to do is to focus on the processes.”
