Yashasvi Jaiswal is potentially a future great Indian batsman. The southpaw has scored tons of runs in List A and U19 cricket for India. The 18-year-old will now feature in the Indian Premier League for the first time in his career. Former India player Aakash Chopra recently picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as one of the youngsters to watch out for in IPL 2020.
Chopra believes that Jaiswal has the game to succeed at the highest level. He added that he expects a lot from the young batsman in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
Have great expectations from Yashasvi Jaiswal – Aakash Chopra
The popular commentator seemed thrilled to watch the progress that Jaiswal makes when he represents the Rajasthan Royals later this year.
“If Yashasvi Jaiswal is given an opportunity, then he will make the full use of it. I have great belief in him and also have great expectations from him”, said Aakash Chopra on his YouTube Channel.
“This player is very good. He is left-handed, left is right in the IPL. His maturity belies his age, the times we have seen him play.” Chopra added.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal was undoubtedly the best batsman in the U-19 world cup which was played earlier this year. The left-handed batsman was the highest run-getter in the tournament where India made the finals.
He scored a majestic century against arch-rivals Pakistan in the semis of the World Cup. Chopra wants Rajasthan Royals franchise to allow Jaiswal to bat at the opening slot in the IPL this year.
“He has a List A century and was the highest run-scorer in the under-19 World Cup. If you ask me I will put my money on him. If Rajasthan Royals gives him an opportunity and he is a top-order batsman, so he will get a chance to open and I will be very very happy,” concluded Aakash Chopra.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals bought Jaiswal for Rs 2.4 crores in the IPL auction. The rising star will be sharing the dressing room with the likes of Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in the IPL. BCCI confirmed that IPL 2020 will take place between September 19-November 10 in UAE this year.
