KL Rahul was selected in all the three Indian squads for the Australia series starting next month. Moreover, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Rahul has been appointed as the vice-captain of the ODI and the T20I squads which has been picked.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul selection grabbed a lot of eyeballs including that of Sanjay Manjrekar. A few days ago Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his opinion on KL Rahul’s selection in the Indian Test squad for the Australia series. He said Rahul was ‘lucky’ to be included in the squad.
“KL Rahul in his last 5 Test series – v SA – Avg 7.1 – v Eng – Avg 29 – v WI at home – Avg 18 – v Aus – Avg 10.7 – v WI – Avg 25.4 I say very lucky to get a recall based on IPL & white ball performance. But now let’s just hope he makes the most of this chance. Good luck to him!” Manjrekar wrote in a tweet.

Sourav Ganguly Backs KL Rahul To Come Good in Australia Tests
Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that he is ready to give KL Rahul time to excel in all formats as he believes that he can deliver runs for India. But he said that the decision of who plays in the team or not depends upon the selectors.
“I have a lot of time for K L Rahul in Test matches and I am saying that as a cricketer. But, at the end of the day, it is the selector that decides who plays and who doesn’t play,” Ganguly said on India Today’s programme ”Inspiration”.

Sourav Ganguly spoke at India Today‘s program Inspiration on the team that has been selected for the Australia series. He said that how India performs depends on Virat Kohli’s captaincy and how he makes use of his resources.
He further stressed on the fact that Virat needs to win more in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) to show for his calibre as Indian Test captain. India lost a test series against New Zealand in New Zealand at the start of the year.
“He (Virat) must sit back and understand that he has to play better away from home. Yes, Australia was a good series that he had won (in 2018-19) but they should have done better in South Africa, England (both 2018) and New Zealand (2020),” Ganguly said.
Sourav Ganguly further said that Indian batsmen need to bat well to win a Test series in Australia against bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon. The key to winning an overseas series lies in batting well, which happened in Australia during the previous tour.
“We won in Australia because Pujara got you 500 runs, Virat got a hundred, Pant got a hundred. That”s how you are going to win the series. Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon are good bowlers” said the BCCI boss.
Sourav Ganguly concluded saying that India have good bowlers in their ranks and can challenge Australia in Australia with this attack.
