Former cricketer Suresh Raina shares a very special connection with former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The duo played together for Team India as well as for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Interestingly, Raina announced his decision to retire from cricket, right after MS Dhoni’s retirement on August 15, 2020.

Suresh Raina was 32 years old when he announced his retirement. He last played for India against England in 2018 in an ODI match. Recently, the left-handed batter opened up on his decision to retire on the same day as MS Dhoni’s retirement. Speaking to Sports Tak, he talked about his special connection with the wicket-keeper batter. He said,

“We played so many matches together. I was fortunate to play with him for India, and with CSK. We got a lot of love. I come from Ghaziabad and Dhoni from Ranchi. I played for MS Dhoni, then I played for the country. That’s the connection. We’ve played so many finals, we won the World Cup. He’s a great leader and a great human being.”
