“I Remember Us Sleeping On The Floor,” Gautam Gambhir Recalls Being Roommates With MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir made their international debuts for India around the same time. The two heroes shared the dressing room for nearly a decade. Gambhir recently recalled how it was like to be roommates with Dhoni during their initial years. The former Indian opener talked about various interesting things in a recent interview.

Gambhir opened up and stated he often used to talk about Dhoni maintained his long hair. The duo would often sleep on the floor and discussed making it big in international cricket. Gautam Gambhir also told that you get to know a lot about a person when you share a dressing room with them.

Dhoni was interesting as roommates – Gambhir

“We were roommates for more than a month and all we used to talk about was ‘hair’ because he had those long hair back then. We talked about how he would maintain his hair and all that stuff. I remember us sleeping on the floor once because we had a very small room and the first week, we discussed how to make it bigger”, Gambhir said Star Sports chat show Cricket Connected.

“So we removed the beds out of the room and we both were sleeping on the floor, with the mattress on the floor, and it was a great moment”.

He further added, “We were both young, MS Dhoni had recently started playing international cricket together. We went to Kenya together, we went for India A tour to Zimbabwe together and spent a lot of time together. But when you share a room for a month and a half with someone, you get to know a lot about that person”.

Gautam Gambhir has often been expressing strong statements about Indian cricket after his retirement. The cricketer-turned-politician went on to describe MS Dhoni as a lucky captain in the same episode of the chat show. The two were part of the World Cup-winning squads in 2007 and 2011.
