ICC Confirms Dallas, Florida And New York As USA Venues For ICC T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed Dallas, Florida and New York as the three venues in the United States of America (USA) on Wednesday, September 20 to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament is all set to take place in June 2024, jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be the first time that the USA will host the tournament. Broward County in Florida, Grand Prairie in Dallas and Eisenhower Park in New York will be the three stadiums hosting the USA leg of the tournament. The USA was awarded the event in 2021, along with the West Indies.

Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC) expressed that the three venues were confirmed after an extensive evaluation process. In a statement released by the ICC, he said,

“We’re delighted to announce the three USA venues that will host part of the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. The USA is a strategically important market and these venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world’s biggest sports market.”

“We explored a number of potential venue options in the country, and we were hugely encouraged by the enthusiasm the event generated amongst prospective hosts, reinforcing the growing awareness around cricket’s massive fanbase and its power to unite diverse communities,” he added.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024’s teams and format

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 20 teams from across the globe who have qualified for the tournament. They will be divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 round. In the Super 8 round, the teams will be split into two groups. The top two teams from these groups will be in the knock-out round, i.e. semi-final and final.

Teams: West Indies, USA, Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea

Five more teams will qualify for the event – 1 from the American qualifier, 2 from the Asia Qualifier and 2 from the Africa Qualifier.
