Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain is in awe of Team India skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting prowess. He hailed the opener’s performance against Pakistan in the recent ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The right-handed batter powered India to a convincing seven-wicket win over the arch-rivals.
Rohit Sharma smashed 86 runs off just 63 deliveries, including six boundaries and as many sixes at a strike rate of 136.51. India chased down 192 runs comfortably on the back of his solid knock, clinching their third win of the tournament in as many matches. The Indian skipper capitalised on the short deliveries bowled to him by the Pakistan bowlers in the innings, smashing them all over the ground.
Following India’s win, Nasser Hussain spoke about Rohit Sharma’s knock. He expressed that the right-handed batter is a great player of pull shots. He also added that Rohit has a lot of time while batting and is one of the greatest white-ball cricketers to have ever played the game. Speaking to the broadcasters, Nasser Hussain said,
“It’s one of Rohit’s favourite shots, I mean he absolutely loves the pull shots. I certainly won’t be taking Rohit on with the short ball. He’s one of the great pullers and hookers in world cricket at the moment, a brilliant player. The sign of greatness in a batter, trust me, is when they have time, and Rohit Sharma has so much time when he is batting. He’s got to be one of the greatest white ball players to have ever played the game.”
