PAK vs AFG Match: Key Highlights

During Pakistan’s innings, they managed to score 282/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Captain Babar Azam played a significant role by contributing 74 runs off 92 deliveries, which included one six and four boundaries.

Abdullah Shafique also made an impressive 58 off 75 balls, featuring two sixes and five boundaries. Late in the innings, Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed added crucial runs, with Shadab scoring 40 off 38 and Iftikhar smashing 40 off 27, which included four sixes and two fours.

Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad was their standout bowler, securing three wickets for 49 runs, while Naveen-ul-Haq took two wickets, and Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai each claimed one. In their chase of 283, Afghanistan’s opening batsmen, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, set the stage with a formidable 130-run partnership for the first wicket.

Gurbaz played an explosive innings, accumulating 65 runs from 53 deliveries, featuring one six and nine boundaries. Meanwhile, Zadran fell just short of a century, scoring 87 off 113 balls, including ten fours.

Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi then combined for an unbeaten 96-run partnership that sealed the win for Afghanistan. Shah contributed an impressive 77* off 84 deliveries with two sixes and five boundaries, while Shahidi added 48 off 45 balls, including four boundaries.

After the match, Afghanistan’s captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi, lauded his team’s professional approach to the chase and commended the performance of debutant Noor Ahmed. Shahidi expressed his ambition to continue their successful run in the tournament and make it historic for their nation.

Afghanistan’s upcoming fixtures in the 2023 World Cup include the following matches :

• Afghanistan against Sri Lanka on October 30 at the MCA Stadium in Pune

• The Netherlands on November 3 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow

• Australia on November 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai

• South Africa on November 10 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
