ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Pat Cummins’ Stunning Catch To Dismiss Quinton de Kock

The second semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 between Australia and South Africa got underway on Thursday, November 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Australian skipper Pat Cummins took a brilliant catch in the innings to dismiss the in-form South African batter Quinton de Kock.

The incident took place during the sixth over of the South African innings. Josh Hazlewood bowled a length delivery around the off-stump. Quinton de Kock looked to take on the pacer, however, he miscued the shot. The ball went straight up in the air. Pat Cummins who was at mid-on ran backwards but did not take his eyes off the ball to take a great catch.

Quinton de Kock had to walk back to the hut for three runs from fourteen deliveries. This was the eighth time, Josh Hazlewood dismissed Quinton de Kock in One-Day International. The left-handed batter has scored 126 runs from 173 deliveries at a strike rate of 72.8, against the Australian pacer.

We’ll chat about it: Pat Cummins on his future as ODI Captain

Pat Cummins expressed that he is open to continuing as the captain of the Australian ODI captain after the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He was made the Australian captain in the ODI format after the sudden retirement of Aaron Finch last year. Speaking at a press conference, Pat Cummins said,

“We’ll chat about it.”

“We’ve been pretty open, me, Andrew McDonald (head coach) and George Bailey (selector). Around different times in the year, you’re going to have different priorities. This is a bit of a one-off year where there are three or four big off-season events. After here, the focus shifts back to Test cricket for a fair while.”

“I feel like I’ve been managed really well and looked after in a really, really busy year where you don’t really want to give up any cricket,” he added.
