The Indian fielding has been at great standards during the first innings against Bangladesh played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 19th October 2023. Apart from fielding, India took two brilliant catches that turned the fortune of the game in favour of the hosts. Ravindra Jadeja produced a stunning catch to dismiss well-set Mushfiqur Rahim going to his left hand in the 43rd over and then gestured for Indian fielding coach T Dilip.

Bangladesh stand-in captain Najmul Hasan Shanto won the toss and decided to bat first. Tanzid Hasan and Liton Das struggled against top-quality pace bowling off Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. After the initial struggle, both openers took charge putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. Hardik Pandya went off the field due to injury as Virat Kohli bowled the last 3 deliveries.

Tanzid looked in fine touch completing his fifty off 41 deliveries. After the first drinks, Kuldeep Yadav struck dismissing Tanzid Hasan to end 93 runs opening partnership. Ravindra Jadeja then got rid of Shanto with a lovely delivery. The Indian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals not allowing Bangladesh batters to hit big shots.

KL Rahul took a stunning diving catch to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Liton Das looked impressive reaching his fifty off 62 balls. Ravindra Jadeja struck getting rid of well-set Das.

Mushfiqur Rahim showed some intent but Towhid Hridoy looked out of sorts against disciplined Indian bowling. Shardul Thakur dismissed Hridoy with a simple catch to Shubman Gill. The experienced Mahmudullah put in some lovely shots against Indian bowlers but was not able to convert them into a big score.

Jasprit Bumrah proved his worth as a bowler with a searing yorker that stunned Mahmudullah in the 50th over. It was a terrific bowling effort by the Indian team as they restricted Bangladesh to just 257 for 8 in 50 overs on a superb batting paradise.

Bumrah, Siraj, and Jadeja took 2 wickets each while Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 1 wicket each. The Indian bowlers was one person down as Hardik Pandya went off the field due to an injury and fans would be hoping that it is not serious.
