India ended their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note by beating Namibia by nine wickets. The Virat Kohli-led side chased down the target with more than four overs to spare. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 54 along with Rohit Sharma’s 56 ensured Virat Kohli won his 50th game as India’s T20I skipper.
This game marks an end to the Kohli-Shastri era of Indian cricket. The Indian bowlers came together to restrict Namibia to 132/8. The minnows lost wickets at regular intervals with none of the top-order batters getting starts. David Wiese top-scored for the African nation with 26 off 25 balls. None of the other batsmen got scores as Namibia scored a below-par total.
In reply, India got off to a flier with Rahul and Rohit adding 86 inside the first 10 overs. Rohit fell very untimely for India just when the side looked like pulling off a 10-wicket win. Coming in at number three Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 25 to take India home.
Twitter meanwhile, celebrated India’s consolation win after they were eliminated from the tournament effectively by New Zealand once again after they beat Afghanistan.

With the T20 World Cup done, India now will take on New Zealand in a series at home starting from November 17. Virat Kohli meanwhile ended with 30 wins as India’s T20I skipper.
“A big thank you to all those guys (Ravi Shastri and his support staff). They have done a great job over the years, creating such a wonderful environment for the players. People loved to get back to the atmosphere. They have done a really great job. That (his aggression) is never going to change. The day it does, I’ll stop playing cricket. Even before I became captain, I have always loved to contribute in some way or the other. Surya didn’t get much gametime in this World Cup, so I thought it will be a nice memory to take back” said Kohli at the post-match presentation.
