ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Harsha Bhogle Demands Waqar Younis’ Apology Over Religious Remark After Indo-Pak Game

Pakistan beating India in the ICC T20 World Cup has taken an ugly turn with various formers players from the national giving controversial comments. After Waqar Younis was seen dancing at a talk show on a Pakistani channel, now he has given a statement that hurts the religious sentiments of both teams and an unnecessary one as per the requirement of the game.

Waqar Younis’ comments were derived after Mohammad Rizwan was seen doing his Namaz inside the ground after Pakistan beat India. Younis meanwhile has given a religious tone to it saying that Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman reading his namaz was very special to him.

“Rizwan offered Namaz during the match in the middle of Hindus was very special for me,” Younis was quoted as saying by Arya News. Meanwhile, veteran Indian commennetor in a series of tweets has slammed Younis for his comments and even asked him to apologise for his statement.

He has further said that the game of cricket should be kept separate from political or religious propagandas and someone preaching the same should not be a fan of the game.

For a person of Waqar Younis’ stature to say that watching Rizwan offering namaz in front of Hindus was very special to him, is one of the most disappointing things I have heard. A lot of us try hard to play such things down and talk up sport and to hear this is terrible.

There Will Be An Apology On The Way From Waqar Younis: Harsha Bhogle

In a couple of more tweets, he said that he is expecting Waqar Younis to come up with an apology sooner rather than later.

“You would think that cricketers, as ambassadors of our game, would be a little more responsible. I am sure there will be an apology on the way from Waqar. We need to unite the cricket world, not divide it by religion” said Bhogle in one his tweets.
