ICC T20 World Cup 2021: “India Hoping MS Dhoni Can Make The Difference”-Salman Butt

MS Dhoni joined the Indian cricket team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 as a mentor on Sunday. The BCCI had roped him in for the role ahead of the start of the tournament. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had himself confirmed the news as the Indian fans went wild after the confirmation. It was under Dhoni that India won its only T20 World Cup title and thus the BCCI is hoping tha Dhoni weaves his magic the second time around.

MS Dhoni recently led Chennai Super Kings to their fourth IPL title beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt said that BCCI is hoping that Dhoni becomes key for them and makes the difference in helping the side win their second T20 World Cup title. Incidentally, this will also be Virat Kohli’s last assignment as India’s T20I skipper.

“Dhoni has been such a successful player and captain. He can offer a lot to this team in terms of experience. Above all, after his exit India have played some very good cricket, but they have failed to execute their plans in the final. They are not able to finish on a winning note. Dhoni is someone who has maximum experience of finishing on the winning note as Indian captain. India are thus hoping Dhoni can make that difference and help them crack the winning formula. This is the main reason why Dhoni has been brought in” Butt said on his Youtube Channel.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has always maintained the impact of MS Dhoni in and around the team. Kohli has asserted that Dhoni’s presence as mentor for the T20 World Cup 2021 will definitely make a difference.

“He has always been a mentor for all of us, when we were starting our careers at that time he played and now he has the same opportunity to continue the same again. Especially for the younger guys who are in early stages of their career, just experience that he has gained over the years and having conversations with him about the game.”

India begin their T20 World Cup campaign by playing Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
