Indian skipper Virat Kohli is down to his preparations for India’s next match against New Zealand on Sunday, October 31. A loss to Pakistan in their first game has put extra pressure on the side to win all their remaining games from the group to make it to the semi finals. New Zealand also lost their opening group game against Pakistan which makes this match a do-or-die for both teams.

Virat Kohli is down to his practice sessions and is hitting the ball sweetly as ever. The ICC In its official Instagram handle shared a clip of Kohli’s brilliant batting session to which Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer looked in awe.

Both relatively new to international cricket, the Indian youngsters were taken aback by the way Kohli was stroking the balls from the middle of his bat. In an otherwise shallow batting performance, Virat Kohli stood out scoring 57 runs albeit in a losing cause.

The Indian skipper was brave enough to admit that they did not play good cricket against Pakistan and gave the opposition the due credit of winning the game as well.

Pakistan Gave Us No Chances: Virat Kohli

India vs Pakistan

“We didn’t execute properly. Credit where it’s due and Pakistan outplayed us today. They started brilliantly with the ball, and 3 wickets for 20 runs was not a good start. We needed wickets early but with the bat they gave us absolutely no chances” said Kohli on Pakistan’s performance.”

He further said that this is just the first game of the tournament and the side has a chance to make a comeback in the tournament in the remaining games.

“It’s important to stay composed and understand our strengths, because with the dew the slower bowlers couldn’t be effective either. This is just the first game of the tournament, not the last” he further added.

India have beaten the Kiwis only once in their last five meetings in ICC tournaments. India beat New Zealand way back in the 2003 World Cup under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy.
