Yashavi Jaiswal breaks into top 20 of batters rankings

The explosive left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal climbs up to number 14th in the latest ICC Test batter rankings after a brilliant 214 not out against England in the 3rd test match played at Rajkot. Jaiswal played a brilliant knock in the 2nd innings of the 3rd Test match at Rajkot that helped India set a daunting target of 557.

It was a sensational batting performance by Jaiswal smashing the England bowlers all over the park remaining not out on 214 with 14 fours and 12 sixes that made life tough for visitors. Jaiswal became the third Indian after Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli to score two successive double centuries in test matches. The stylish left-handed batter smashed 209 runs in the first innings of the 2nd Test match at Vizag helping India post 396 runs in the first innings.

The Indian Cricket Team registered an emphatic 434 runs victory over England in the 3rd test match at Rajkot that helped the hosts take a 2-1 lead with 2 matches to spare. With this superb performance, Jaiswal moved to 14th in the batting rankings. For his superb knock of 214 not out, Jaiswal was named the player of the match.

Jaiswal would be hoping for another superb performance in the 4th test match at Ranchi. He was dismissed cheaply in the first innings of the 3rd match at Rajkot. As far Indian batting unit is concerned, Virat Kohli occupies the 7th spot despite not playing any test match in this series so far. Indian captain Rohit Sharma climbs one place up to number 12th. He made an important 131 in the first innings that helped India recover from 33 to 3 and scored 445 runs.

In the bowling department, Ravichandran Ashwin jumps to 2nd and would look to clinch the top spot as Jasprit Bumrah would not feature in the 4th test match due to workload management. Jaiswal would look to climb up the rankings with another brilliant performance in the 4th test at Ranchi and help India seal the series 3-1.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson strengthened its position at the top spot with brilliant performances in the test series against South Africa.
