Imam-ul-Haq's Spectacular Flying Catch Dismisses Shreyas Iyer in India vs Pakistan Clash

India secured a dominant victory over Pakistan in the much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The high-intensity match saw India in full control, with Shreyas Iyer playing a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings before departing for a well-crafted 56 runs off 67 balls. Virat Kohli, the undisputed chase master, remained firm at the other end, guiding India to a resounding win.

Shreyas Iyer’s Vital Contribution

When Iyer walked in, India’s scoreboard read 100 runs. The team needed a steady partnership to solidify their chase, and Iyer delivered brilliantly in partnership with Kohli. By rotating the strike efficiently and capitalizing on loose deliveries, he kept the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries. His composed innings ensured that India maintained control before his dismissal at a crucial juncture.

Imam-ul-Haq’s Spectacular Flying Catch

Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah eventually managed to send Iyer back to the pavilion, but it was too late for the Men in Green as India had already gained an upper hand.

Iyer advanced down the track and attempted an inside-out shot over extra cover. However, the shot lacked elevation, allowing Imam-ul-Haq to take a stunning full-length catch at extra cover. Iyer scored 56 runs off 67 balls.

A Gigantic Maximum by Iyer

A highlight of Iyer’s innings was his mammoth 102-metre six off Salman Agha in the 31st over. Facing a loopy delivery, he charged down the track and launched it deep over midwicket for a colossal maximum, showcasing his power-hitting ability and keeping the momentum with India.

India’s Commanding Chase

Rohit Sharma provided a fiery start but was undone by a classic Shaheen Afridi yorker. Shubman Gill, after a cautious start, found his rhythm and played exquisite strokes. India raced to 64/1 at the end of the first powerplay.

Haris Rauf bowled with intent and induced some false strokes, but Kohli’s top-edge fell short of third man, while Gill received a lucky break when Khushdil dropped him at midwicket. Rauf’s second over proved expensive, as Kohli dispatched two signature cover drives, crossing the 14,000-run milestone in ODIs.

This innings marked yet another masterclass from Kohli, who anchored the chase flawlessly, ensuring India’s triumph over their arch-rivals in a thrilling encounter.
