With the T20I done and dusted, India have kickstarted their preparation for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, starting March 4. Mohali will be the home for the 1st Test while the caravan shifts to Bangalore for the final match.

The Test specialists had already reached Mohali a couple of days back and completed their quarantine while the players from the T20 squad joined them on Monday. After a poor outing against South Africa, the hosts will look to bounce back.

The BCCI shared a couple of pictures from India’s first training session ahead of the Test series.

India will hope to return to winnings ways and revive their place in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. They are placed fifth in the points table with four wins, three defeats and two draws with a win percentage of 49.07.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are currently at the top of the points table with a 100 percent win record, having two out of two matches.

India’s Tests squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Priyank Panchal, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Shubhman Gill, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant Yadav, R. Ashwin (subject to fitness clearance), Kuldeep Yadav, Saurabh Kumar, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Mohd. Shami, Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain).

Virat Kohli’s 100th Test to be played behind closed doors

Former India captain Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th Test match at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali behind closed doors. Punjab Cricket Association CEO Deepak Sharma confirmed that no fans will be allowed in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka.

“The first Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played behind closed doors with no spectators allowed,” Punjab Cricket Association CEO Deepak Sharma was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
