IND vs AFG 2026 1st ODI: [WATCH] Debutant Gurnoor Brar Removes Ibrahim Zadran For 1 In The First Over

India debutant Gurnoor Brar made an immediate impact by taking a wicket in his very first over against Afghanistan in the opening ODI of the three-match series on Saturday, June 13, in Dharamsala. The wicket came on the fifth ball of the second over of Afghanistan’s innings.

The right-arm pacer bowled a length delivery that shaped away off the pitch. Ibrahim Zadran tried to drive but got a leading edge, and skipper Shubman Gill completed an easy catch at mid-off. Watch the video here:

The right-handed batter had a forgettable start, managing only one run from four deliveries before getting dismissed. His wicket reduced Afghanistan to 13/1 in 1.5 overs.

Gurnoor Brar, Arshdeep Singh grab early wickets to dent Afghanistan

India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first after rain shortened the match to 25 overs a side. The game also saw Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey make their international debuts. Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz came out attacking, hitting a boundary and a six in Arshdeep Singh’s opening over.

Brar gave India their first wicket in the second over by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran for one off four balls. Arshdeep then struck in the following over, removing Sediqullah Atal for a two-ball duck. At the time of writing, Afghanistan were 17/2 after three overs, with Gurbaz unbeaten on 14 and Rahmat Shah on one.
