The Indian Cricket Team registered a 5-wicket win over Australia in the first One-day International match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 17 March 2023.

It was a superb bowling effort by the Indian bowlers to skittle out Australia for 188. Mitchell Marsh looked impressive with a quickfire 81. Mohammed Shami bowled a dream spell getting wickets of Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Marcus Stoinis to leave Australia in trouble. Mohammed Siraj got the breakthrough dismissing Travis Head. He was introduced into the attack and took 2 more wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja grabbed 2 wickets, and Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav took 1 wicket each. It was an impressive bowling effort by the Indian team to bowl out Australia for 188 in 35.4 overs. Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was spot on bringing regular changes and making life tough for Australian batters.

Venkatesh Prasad criticized KL Rahul’s performance in the Border Gavaskar Test series. He scored just 38 runs during the 3 innings he batted during. He was dropped from the 3rd and 4th match of the series played in Indore and Ahmedabad.

KL Rahul’s brilliant performance

Chasing down 189 runs to win, Ishan Virat Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav could not contribute much leaving the hosts in trouble at 16 for 3. KL Rahul looked in decent touch hitting a boundary off the very first delivery.

The pitch had something for the seam bowlers. India looked in deep trouble as they wickets of Shubman Gill. KL Rahul played according to merit keeping the scoreboard ticking with boundaries and singles. After the loss of Hardik Pandya’s wicket, India needed 106 runs to win.

KL Rahul kept his composure keeping the scoreboard ticking. He completed his half-century off 73 deliveries and looked in complete control. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja put on unbeaten 108 runs for the 6th wicket to help Team India win the match by 5 wickets with 61 deliveries to spare.

It was another impressive knock by KL Rahul keeping composure on a tough batting pitch. Prasad hailed KL Rahul’s match-winning knock that led Men in Blue to an impressive win after being in a tricky situation. He remained not out on 75.
