Australia began the day on 255 for 4 with Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green at the crease in the fourth Test against India. Both batters looked comfortable putting pressure on the Indian bowlers with boundaries against Umesh Yadav keeping the scoreboard ticking. Cameron Green completed fifty off 67 deliveries.

It was a superb batting effort by Khawaja and Green keeping the momentum going for Australia. Khawaja also played according to the merit of the ball completing his 150 off 346 deliveries. Green looked in sublime touch hitting boundaries with ease. Australia ended the first session at 347 for 4.

After the lunch break, Green completed his maiden Test century off 143 deliveries. R Ashwin made a breakthrough by getting rid of Green caught down the leg by Bharat. Green and Khawaja added 208 runs for the 5th wicket. Ashwin struck once again to dismiss Alex Carey bringing back India into the game.

The veteran off-spinner made another breakthrough dismissing Mitchell Starc caught by Shreyas Iyer at short-leg. Usman Khawaja remained solid against the Indian bowlers. Shami threatened with some lovely deliveries going past Mitchell Starc’s bat. Australia ended the 2nd session at 409 for 7.

It was an ideal start for the Indian team in 3rd session as Axar Patel got rid of Usman Khawaja. Stand-in captain Cheteshwar Pujara called for a review and it was overturned that leaving Kohli shellshocked. It was a brilliant knock by Khawaja making 180 off 422 balls with 21 boundaries.

Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon added valuable runs showing intent to keep the scoreboard ticking. Ashwin was bought with the third new ball dismissing Murphy to pick his 32nd five-wicket haul in Test matches. Murphy and Lyon added 70 runs for the 9th wicket. Ashwin then got rid of Nathan Lyon taking the pad of Bharat straight into the hands of Kohli at slips to bowl out Australia for 480.

Ashwin ended with figures of 6 for 91 in 47.2 overs on a good batting pitch. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided some lovely batting ending the 2nd day at 36 for 0.

Khawaja’s brilliance with the bat

Khawaja provided a solid display of batting in the first innings of the fourth Test match. He looked cautious at the start before showing his class keeping the scoreboard ticking along with Steve Smith.

Khawaja looked in great touch playing the spinners and pace bowlers brilliantly as he completed his century to end day 1 on 104 not out. He made the batting look with ease on day 2 also showing class with solid defence.
