Former India cricketer Anil Kumble heaped praise on Kuldeep Yadav for his brilliant performance in Ravichandran Ashwin’s absence on the third day of the third Test against England at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. He expressed that the spinner bowled “exceptionally well” and had impeccable variations.

Kuldeep Yadav took two crucial wickets in the first innings for India conceding runs. He dismised Jonny Bairstow for a duck. Centurion Ben Duckett was his second victim in the match. India needed the spinner to step-up in Ravichandran Ashwin’s absence, and Kuldeep delivered on the same. Praising the 29-year-old spinner, Anil Kumble said on Jio Cinema,

“Kuldeep bowled exceptionally well. The trajectory that he bowled to the left-handers. Once he got Johnny Bairstow with the LBW decision, he bowled really well. I thought the trajectory was the key, much quicker today in terms of pace and also the lines that he bowled. He got a bit of a turn from the surface and his variations were impeccable, sometimes even troubling Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps.”

Kuldeep Yadav was unplayable at times: Nick Knight

Former England cricketer Nick Knight was also mightly impressed with Kuldeep Yadav’s performance in the first innings of the third Test against England at Rajkot. He expressed that the Indian spinner looked unplayable on some occassions in the innings, as the batters struggled to understand his variations. Nick Knight said on Jio Cinema,

“He was unplayable at times, I think because England’s batters were struggling to pick him as well. I’m not quite sure if there’s a little bit more work, perhaps off the surface now. That’s perhaps exaggerated because they’re losing wickets, and they’re starting, and you’ve got new batters. So it looks like this, perhaps more going on than there is. But I thought he was terrific.”
