On Day 3 of the third Test against England in Rajkot, Mohammed Siraj furthered the dominance of the Indian bowlers by timely dismissing Rehan Ahmed in the second session. The bowlers faced a significant challenge in the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin, who left the Rajkot Test midway due to his mother’s illness in Chennai.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja formed a formidable quartet, orchestrating a collapse for the visitors after they concluded Day 2 in a strong position.

England needed valuable runs from Rehan Ahmed, a contributor in the series. Batting in the 66th over with the score at 299-6, the wrist-spinner managed only nine runs before being dismissed by a splendid yorker from Siraj.

Rehan, delayed in lowering his bat to counter the fierce yorker, saw the ball hitting the off-stump and dislodging the bail. Unaware of the dismissal, Siraj initially appealed to the on-field umpire.

Before the third Test in the ongoing series, Rehan had accumulated 70 runs in four innings. In the second Test, he was elevated to No. 3 as the ‘Nighthawk’ and contributed with a well-crafted cameo of 23 runs.

On Day 3, the visitors experienced an unprecedented collapse, losing their final eight wickets for a mere 95 runs. Despite a strong start by centurion Ben Duckett, the middle order couldn’t capitalize, and Mohammed Siraj played a pivotal role in dismantling the English tail.

Siraj concluded the first innings by dismissing James Anderson. Employing a fullish delivery from around the wicket to the left-handed batsman, Siraj breached the defense and rattled the stumps.

Statistically, Siraj stood out among the bowlers with figures of 4-84 in 21.1 overs. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with England winning the first match and India making a comeback in the second.
