Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour asserted that KL Rahul is unfit, but added that he doesn’t know the exact progress of his fitness. The wicket-keeper batter was expected to return to the squad for the fourth test against England at Ranchi but has been ruled out.
KL Rahul suffered a quadriceps injury and has missed the last two test matches of the ongoing five-match series. A press release by the BCCI confirmed that the right-handed batter will miss the fourth test. Meanwhile, his participation in the fifth Test in Dharamsala is also subject to fitness. Talking about the fitness status of KL Rahul, India batting coach Vikram Rathour said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the fourth Test,
“For me, either he is fit or he is not. At the moment, he is not fit. I am not sure what per cent he is fit at the moment and what the stage is.”

On his day he will come up with a very impactful innings: Vikram Rathour on Rajat Patidar
Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour has put faith in Rajat Patidar, who has gotten an opportunity in KL Rahul’s absence. The youngster made his debut in the second test against England at Vizag. However, he hasn’t been able to make much of an impact. In two matches, he has managed just 46 runs, with a highest score of 32. Vikram Rathour bas packed Patidar to come good in the upcoming matches. He said,
“As far as having conversations with him Patidar, yes, we have been having a lot of conversations with him but one thing he needs to understand is that this is how this game goes. He has been batting well. He has scored a lot of runs to get into the team and hasn’t become a bad player in two matches.”
“Rajat is a very good player. He has batted well in whatever cricket he has played. He has had a few tough games, and a few awkward dismissals where the ball has stopped on him, this can happen, this is how the game goes. Absolutely no doubt that he is a good player and on his day he will come up with a very impactful innings,” he added.
