Rohit Sharma got out after scoring only two runs from nine balls for Team India

Joe Root remained not out on 122 as England wrapped up their first innings at 353 runs early on Day 2 of the fourth cricket test against India. In response, India, at lunch, stood at 34-1 in 10 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (27 not out) and Shubman Gill (4) at the crease. The home team trailed by 319 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja, the left-arm spinner, claimed 4-67 for India as England lost the final three wickets for six runs. Debutant pacer Akash Deep ended with figures of 3-83 from 19 overs.

Commencing from an overnight score of 302-7 on Saturday, Joe Root contributed to England’s additional 51 runs in their first innings. The former England captain remained unbeaten until the conclusion, playing 274 balls and hitting 10 fours.

In his inaugural match of the series, Ollie Robinson achieved his maiden Test half-century, facing 81 balls. He forged a significant partnership of 102 runs for the eighth wicket with Root, rescuing England from a precarious position of 245-7 on the first day after winning the toss.

India holds a 2-1 lead in the series, securing a 434-run victory in the third test at Rajkot. They also claimed the second test in Visakhapatnam by 106 runs after England won the first test in Hyderabad by 28 runs.
