In the 40th over, Sharma, wanting a leg gully for Jonny Bairstow, approached Sarfaraz, physically guided him, and placed him precisely where he desired the fielder to be stationed.

A video showcasing Rohit Sharma’s amusing field-setting approach was posted by one of Sharma’s fan pages on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) and has gained widespread attention on social media.

The current fifth and final Test holds no significance in terms of the series outcome, as Rohit Sharma’s team has already secured an insurmountable 3-1 lead.

Despite England winning the toss and opting to bat first in Dharamsala, the decision proved unfavorable as Indian spinners dominated on the opening day.

Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took five and four wickets, respectively, leading to England’s dismissal for a mere 218. Opener Zak Crawley’s 79-run innings was the sole noteworthy contribution for the visitors.

Opening for Team India, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal established a dominant position with a remarkable 104-run partnership in 124 deliveries.

Despite his outstanding form in the series, Jaiswal fell to off-spinner Shoaib Bashir in the 21st over after contributing 57 runs off 58 balls. In contrast, Rohit Sharma continued to lead by example, surpassing the 50-run mark for the second consecutive time.

The experienced player played a pivotal role with a significant 55-run innings in the fourth innings of the previous Test in Ranchi. This contribution was crucial as it assisted the Indian team in successfully chasing down a challenging target of 192 with five wickets remaining.

At the end of Day 1, India concluded their innings at 135/1. Sharma remained not out with 52 runs, while Shubman Gill will resume his innings at 26 on the second day.
