Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s terrific form continued in the fifth test of the ongoing series against England on Thursday, March 8 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. He slammed a fifty to lay a solid platform for India’s middle-order in the innings. In the process, he joined Sunil Gavaskar in a rare list.

Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings alongside Rohit Sharma. He took on the England bowlers, smashing five boundaries and three sixes. He managed 57 runs before getting stumped by Ben Foakes off Shoaib Bashir. During the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed 700 runs in the ongoing five-match series. He became the only second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to achieve this feat in a bilateral series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal now has 712 runs at an average of 89, including a double-century. He also broke Virat Kohli’s record for Most Runs by an Indian in a Test series. Kohli had scored 655 runs against England in the 2016 test series away from home.
