After a successful outing in the T20Is, Team India will take on South Africa in 3 match ODI series starting from tomorrow onwards. It promises to be an exciting encounter with the Men in Blue resting all their key players, who are part of the ICC World T20 2022.
The Indian opening pair comprises Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill who have done well in the recent past. Dhawan will look to make a mark, keeping an eye on the World Cup 2023, while Shubman Gill has shown his class by continuing his impressive performance in ODI. Gill has performed brilliantly in nine ODI matches so far, including three half-centuries and one hundred with a career-best of 130 against Zimbabwe last month.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been included as the third opener. The other notable inclusions for India in this series are Rajat Patidar, who has done well in IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore and the domestic season. Rahul Tripathi could make his ODI debut as he performed brilliantly for SRH in IPL 2022. Shreyas Iyer has been named as the vice-captain for this series.

Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have been included as the wicketkeepers for this series. Both players would be looking to show their skills against top-quality South African bowling. The pace bowling options include Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Avesh Khan. Mukesh Kumar has been included in the squad, thanks to brilliant performances in the domestic season.
Deepak Chahar has been named in the squad for this series. His performances have been decent enough and included for reserves for World Cup 2022. Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav and Shahbaz Ahmed have been named as spinners. Bishnoi has been included in reserves for World T20 2022.
It looks like a decent team with attacking players that can change the course of the game with their power-hitting. The bowling department looks a little brittle but hoping to see Shardul, Avesh Khan and others take charge in absence of regulars.
South Africa, on the other hand, have done well in the ODI format recently. The experienced pair of Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan will open the innings as they created a major impact inside the powerplay with their attacking shots. Reeza Hendricks, who did not feature in the T20I series against India, has been included as the third opener.
The team will be led by Temba Bavuma. Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klassen, and David Miller consist of the middle order. Andile Phehulukwayo and Dwaine Pretorius consist of all-rounders that can contribute with both bat and ball.
Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Wayne Parnell are part of the pace battery. All these four fast bowlers can trouble the opposition batters with great pace and speed. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are the two spinners included in the squad, with Markram doing the part-time duties with his off-spin.
These three ODI matches are a part of the ICC ODI Super League. India qualified for the World Cup 2023 as host, while South Africa would be looking to garner points to stay alive for automatic qualification.
