Why Did India Drop Manish Pandey For The 2nd T20 Against Australia?

Prior to India and Australia kicked off the 2nd T20 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, we noticed India and Australia make as many as three changes to their side. The most notable one was of Manish Pandey who didn’t make it to the playing XI as many wondered why was the Karnataka batsman dropped after doing nothing wrong in the 1st T20, which was also his first game on this tour.

In the 1st T20, Manish Pandey has scored just two runs in eight deliveries as he was dismissed by leg spinner Adam Zampa who ran quite a show the other night. The reason for Pandey missing out is nothing to do with his performance but an injury as confirmed.

The right-handed batsman didn’t make it to the playing XI because he had picked up an elbow niggle which forced India to include Shreyas Iyer in the playing XI for the 2nd T20 against Australia in Sydney.

Shreyas Iyer Replaces Manish Pandey In 2nd T20 Owing To An Elbow Niggle

While Iyer making his rebound to the detriment of Manish Pandey, Yuzvendra Chahal replaced Ravindra Jadeja, who has been ruled out of the rest of the T20I series subsequent to enduring a blackout and pulling his hamstring in the main T20I.

Shardul Thakur was likewise snagged in into the playing XI instead of Mohammed Shami, who had been included in the squad after Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out due to concussion.

India had dropped Shreyas Iyer from the playing XI after a poor show in the ODI series where he failed to register a big score as India lost the series 2 – 1. Regardless of his form in the ODI series, Shreyas now has a chance to prove his mantle in the opportunity presented in the 2nd ODI where he’ll be most liking be batting at 4 if not ahead of Sanju Samson.
