Team India is all set to tour West Indies for a limited-overs series in July and August, a press release by Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed on Wednesday. The men in blues are scheduled to play a few series in a bid to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

India will lock horns with West Indies in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is). The tour will start on July 22 in Trinidad and Tobago with three ODIs from July 22 to 27 at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, followed by five T20Is in three separate venues.

“The first T20I on Friday, July 29 will be historic as the first-ever Men’s T20I to be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in the south of Trinidad. The venue for the back-to-back second and third T20I matches is Warner Park, St Kitts, coinciding with Emancipation Day and Culturama holiday celebrations there,” the CWI said.

It was not easy for the CWI to pull off the US games given the internal issues in USA Cricket. The announcement of the schedule was delayed because of the late permissions from the US over hosting the games in Lauderhill, Florida.

“We know our supporters will be delighted with the news that the matches are being played all across the region as well as those living in the USA will be able to see their favourite players in action,” said Johnny Grave, CEO of CWI.

Team India will travel to the West Indies directly from England in July third week, by when they will have played a Test, T20Is and as many ODIs.
