Rahul Dravid won his first series as India coach since taking over from Ravi Shastri. It was a comprehensive win for India as they completed a clean sweep against the Kiwis who knocked them out of the T20 World Cup. Reacting to the win, the Indian coach said that they need to keep their feet on the ground and be realistic about this series win.

New Zealand were without their skipper Kane Williamson in the series. They also played the series from November 17 which was two days after the World Cup final on November 14. Thus the players were tired and drained out already when they arrived in India for the series.

“It was a really good series win. Everyone played really well right through the series. It feels good, nice to start well. We are also quite realistic. We have to keep our feet on the ground and be a bit realistic about this win.”

Rahul Dravid too eluded to the fact that it was not easy for New Zealand to get into a series right after the T20 World Cup. Thus he said that the win was needed to put into perspective judging it from all the scenarios from where the Kiwis came to play the series.

Need To Put The Series Win Into Perspective: Rahul Dravid

“Not easy for NZ to play a World Cup final and then to turn up three days later and play three games in six days, was never going to be easy for them. It was nice from our perspective but we have to learn from this series and move forward. It’s a long journey ahead over the next two years and we’ll have our share of ups and downs.”

India won the third T20I by defending their total of 184/7. This was something that the Indian team was looking to do for the last few months and they seems to have finally nailed the formulae.

The two teams now will play a two-Test match series. The first Test is in Kanpur (November 25-29) followed by the second in Mumbai (December 3-7).
