BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will ring the bell at Eden Gardens in the third T20I against New Zealand. Ganguly started the trend following the famous bell-ringing legacy at the Lord’s in England. The former Indian skipper has rung the Lord’s bell as well in the past.

Meanwhile, the officials of the CAB will were expected to felicitate Indian captain and coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma but that seems unlikely at the moment. A recent directive from the Board has advised against any other programme or function before the game.

Fans will be back at the venue with the CAB ensuring that all the facilities for their transport are in place, They have even spoken to the government officials about relaxing the night curfew on match day and extending the transport services by an extra couple of hours.

The online sale of tickets for the game will start on Friday. “Given the interest around this game, we’ll be allotting a few more tickets that can be sold online,” CAB treasurer Debashish Ganguly said on Thursday.

Ganguly was recently elevated to the post of Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee. He overtook Anil Kumble who served the post on three different terms from 2012.

Sourav Ganguly Appointed As Next Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee

“I am delighted to welcome Sourav to the position of Chair of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. His experience as one of the world’s best players and latterly as an administrator will help us shape our cricketing decisions moving forward,” ICC Chair Greg Barclay said.

Meanwhile, the second T20I between both sides will be played later tonight in Ranchi. Both teams are down to their final preparations for the game. New Zealand need to win the game to keep the series alive.

The last international game played at the Eden Gardens was a T20I between India and West Indies. In 2020, an ODI scheduled to play between India and South Africa was cancelled due to COVID concerns.
