India beat New Zealand by 73 in the third and final T20I in Kolkata and clean swept the Kiwis in the process. The two teams will meet in four days’ time in the first of the two Tests in Kanpur. Team India have also accomplished the mission of winning a game by defending a target.

India were the better fielding side on the field and the two run-outs in New Zealand innings is a proof of that. Ishan Kishan hit the bull’s eye in the 14th over to catch Mitchell Santner short. The direct hit meant that he was just a bit short in making his ground. Kishan’s heroics in the field came after he scored 29 with the bat and added a 69-run stand with Rohit Sharma at the top.

Santner, who led the side tonight picked 3/37 with the ball. However, he did not do much with the bat.

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid was a happy coach after India earned a comfortable win in the third T20I. The various experiments that India made in the game worked in favour of them.

“It was a really good series win. Everyone played really well right through the series. It feels good, nice to start well. We are also quite realistic. We have to keep our feet on the ground and be a bit realistic about this win. Not easy for NZ to play a World Cup final and then to turn up three days later to play three games in six days, was never going to be easy for them. Nice from our perspective but we have to learn from this series and move forward. It’s a long journey ahead over the next 10 months and we’ll have our share of ups and downs. It’s been really good to see some of the young guys come through. We have given opportunity to some of the boys who haven’t played a lot of cricket over the last few months. We have seen some of the skills available to us and we have to keep building on those skills as we go forward” said a satisfied Dravid after the game.
