New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first at Pune. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah made early breakthroughs reducing the visitors to 31 for 3. New Zealand lost early wickets with Martin Guptill, Colin Munro and captain Kane Williamson dismissed cheaply in the first 10 overs. Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Collin de Grandhomme scored runs but could not convert those small scores into big ones. The visitors posted a modest 230 for 9 in 50 overs.
While bowling, only four bowlers took wickets and could not trouble the Indian batsmen. It was a dominating performance by Virat Kohli led side who showed their class after a shocking loss in the first One day international at Mumbai.
The 3rd One day international between India and New Zealand promises to be an exciting one. Virat Kohli would be looking to bring Kuldeep Yadav in replace of Axar Patel. Rohit Sharma has not performed well in the series so far and eager to perform his best in deciding match. All the batsmen and bowlers need to play with positive intent.
