In another bad news for West Indies cricket, Stuart Law has been suspended from the first two One day internationals to be played against India. The first One day international will be played on 21st October at Guwahati and the second one to be played at Vizag on 24th October 2018. Law will be not able to guide the West Indies team for the first two ODI’s
For his indecent behaviour during the 2nd test match played at Hyderabad, Stuart Law has been fined 100% of his match fees and also earned three demerit points for breaching ICC code of conduct.
Stuart Law was carrying demerit points that took place in May 2017 from test match against Pakistan in Dominica. During that match, he got two suspension points with Article 7.6 which means he misses one test or two ODI’s or 2 T20Is or whichever matches comes first.
It took place when West Indies opener Kieron Powell was given out on the third and final day of the 2nd test match as Rahane caught a brilliant low catch and the third umpire had given out after watching many replays.
According to an ICC release, Law went to the third umpire”s room and made “inappropriate comments”. He then “walked to the fourth umpire”s area and, in the presence of the players, again directed inappropriate comments at the fourth official.”
Stuart Law would not coach the West Indies team as the tours of India and Bangladesh will be his last assignment. West Indies lost the 2 match test series 0-2. It was a disappointing performance by West Indies team who were outplayed in Rajkot to lose by an innings and 272 runs, then gave a tough fight before losing by 10 wickets in a 2nd test match played at Hyderabad.
It is going to be a tough fight for the West Indies team in One-day international series with no big names in the team.
