IPL 2017 : Mahendra Singh Dhoni”s Bad Patch:- We have seen some great performances in the IPL so far, be it by Batsmen, bowlers or all-rounders , but one person who is having a tough time is M.S. Dhoni. The spectators have had high expectations from the former Indian skipper but he has not fired just yet, with figures of 12* , 5 , 11 and 5.
Sourav Ganguly had his say ” Not sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player anymore. He is without doubt a great ODI player and I would pick him for the champions trophy but he should score some runs . ” To be honest, there are other wicket-keeper batsmen doing a great job. They are under radar.
The selectors are always watching. So Dhoni has to go big if he has to keep his spot. Another factor that has to be noted is that Dhoni is no more the Indian skipper and he does not hold the authority he used to.
Virender Sehwag has come in support of MS Dhoni -“IPL should not be a platform to judge an experienced player like Dhoni. It’s fine if you judge a youngster on the basis of IPL as it is difficult for a newcomer to showcase his talent in front of a huge crowd.”
However, most analysts have remained silent over Dhoni”s poor form. Maybe they know something big is on it”s way. It is going to be interesting how Dhoni approaches this situation and how he faces the lean patch. It looks as though he has become the ” Silent Cal ” of the RPS side. He talks only when necessary.
It was very surprising when Rahane was handed over the job of acting captain in place of sick Steve Smith. It feels awkward to see this man , who for so many years led from front, behind the stumps minding his own.
There is lots of pressure on the man, but somehow manages to remain calm , but we know how fiery Captain Cool can get with the bat. He just needs a couple of commendable innings and he will be on his way! Lets hope the best of Dhoni is yet to come by one of the greatest finishers India has produced in the past decade.
