Batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been in the headlines for his batting explosives is excited to don the Rajasthan Royals jersey in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). From selling panipuris to finishing as the highest run-scorer in the ICC U19 World Cup, Jaiswal has come a long way and now he is looking forward to the biggest global event in the sports. 

The 18-year-old Jaiswal first hogged the limelight when he became the youngest cricketer in the world to score a List ‘A’ double century. Since then, he has been piling runs with every innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal bagged an IPL deal with the Royals during the auctions last year earning a purse of Rs 2.4 crore. The batting sensation justified the price tag knocking 400 runs in the mega World Cup from six matches in South Africa last month.

Oozing with confidence, Jaiswal eager to extend his brilliant form in the forthcoming IPL starting from March 29. Currently, he is in the preparatory camp in a bid to gear up for the biggest challenge in his cricketing career so far. 

“I am really looking forward to play my first IPL. I am very excited to play my part in the Rajasthan Royals journey. It is an honour to play with a team like Royals. They have had some amazing results in the previous editions of IPL. It is now my duty to help the team continue their strong performance this year too,” Yashasvi told TOI on Saturday.

Furthermore, Yashasvi Jaiswal admitted that the upcoming IPL will be a test of his character and sharing the dressing room with the legends of the game will be a learning curve for the youngster. Rajasthan begin their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on April 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. 

“I am in very good form in the last few months. IPL will be a big challenge for me. It will not only test my skills but also test my character. Royals have shown faith in my ability. I hope l live up to their expectations. Sharing the dressing room with so many established stars will be a great learning curve for me,” the southpaw concluded.
