The Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Capitals and Abu Dhabi in IPL 2020. Eoin Morgan’s men were inch-perfect in every department and registered a simple win.

Batting first, KKR promoted Nitish Rana as an opener which proved to be a game-changer. Rana seemed at home at the opening slot and paced his inning brilliantly.

The turning point in the match came when Sunil Narine came out to bat at 5 and joined Rana. The two southpaws decided to up the ante and took the game away from Delhi Capitals. Rana eventually scored 81 from 53 balls whereas Narine in his comeback match silenced his critics and scored 64 from mere 32 balls.

KKR Win By 59 Runs In IPL 2020

On the back of this crucial Partnership, KKR posted a brilliant total of 194-6. Meanwhile, KKR began their defence in style as they sent both the DC openers Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane early to the pavilion.

After the two quick loss, skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant tried accelerating but weren’t successful. In the middle overs, it was Varun Chakravarthy once again who picked wickets at regular intervals and proved to be a game-changer.

The spinner became only the second-ever KKR bowler to pick 5 wickets IPL history. Chakravarthy ended the match with figures of 5-20 as KKR wrapped by the match convincingly.

Here’s what the winning skipper of KKR, Eoin Morgan said in the post-match presentation.

“We had had a nice couple of days to reflect on things. In such a compact tournament, it can be easy to get caught up. Great of Sunil to come back and play as a proper allrounder. And Nitish Rana and him adding all the runs. The decision to bat Narine there is all the coach”.

“He likes to play his cards. It is all Brendon. Given the nature of the tournament, it is not a tournament where sides get 100 in top 10. You need a longer batting line-up than a strong one. That is why I am batting lower. Varun is such a humble guy. he just goes about his work. Throughout the tournament, he has been our standout performer”, said Morgan after the win over Delhi Capitals.
