The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is round the corner and the buzz is in the fifth gear. All the eight franchises are in the final leg of their preparation to lift the illustrious trophy in the lands of UAE. After a lot of speculations and dilemma, the cash-rich will league will commence from September 19. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the opener. However, the tournament was originally scheduled to take place in March. But with the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, BCCI had to postpone the league twice.
However, until ICC postponed the T20 World Cup, there was no surety of IPL 2020 taking place this year. But the puzzle completed as expected and the tournament will now run in the middle east.
Meanwhile, there will be 50 matches in total with 10 double-headers. The entire tournament will take place in a bio-secure bubble due to the novel coronavirus.

Where will the matches be played?
Three stadiums in the UAE will host all the matches of IPL 2020. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host 20 round-robin games including the tournament opener, while Dubai and Sharjah will play host to 24 and 12 games respectively.
However, the organisers are yet to reveal the venues for the playoffs.
When will IPL 2020 matches start?
The organisers have made a distinctive change going into the 13th season of IPL. Unlike other seasons when the matches used to start at 8:30 PM, this edition will see the games start from 7:30 PM IST. Otherwise, the day encounters will commence from 3:30 PM IST.
